Jayne,
Please get into the minds behind closing Pimlico race track,
tearing down the barns, and relocating horsement to Bowie and Laurel, effective September 1, 2008. This is atrocious and it seems that there is an underhanded effort to remove the second jewel of the Triple Crown out of Maryland. This warrants your investigation.
I think you are brillant!
You rock Jayne!!!!
Jane, do you think you could look into this and let the people know what they are doing to these animals?
they have already been caught in other states killing them and dumping them in dumpsters.

i just wanted to say that i love the work that not only you but the other members of the i team do. i agree with you about mr harris. from what i have heard we need more people like him and you. i think its a damn shame that the people of baltimore city ALLOW this to happen if they were to get off of their lazy and parden me for this asses and just show alittle pride then maybe they would in better shape than they are. thank you for all your hard work jim rader
Jane,
Congratulations on your 25 years at the station!
Not to mention all the best for a full recovery from your illness.
It is because of what you do that citizens are protected from things that could directly effect the health, safety, and welfare of Maryland residents. Our children in Forest Hill, Maryland are being subjected to B2 zoning right next to our Elementary School..The sheriff’s office of Bel Air has stated in DAC meetings that this is no place for a 2 story Kohl’s and is not compatible with “our community”! We need your help!!! There is more than meets the eye to this story and we need your help get to the truth! Please help us! We are appealing this decision and are having a rally at the school on election day. We even have people in Menomonee Falls, WI visiting Corporate Kohl’s to get our story heard by the executives.
Thanks so much for your consideration in helping the strong community of Forest Lakes!

Ms. Miller,
I love the work you do at WBAL. I have a story you may be interested in. The Narrow’s restuarant in Grasonville, MD offers free Lunches or Dinners to ANY Queen Anne’s County veteran on Thursday, December 11th. It’s a great event to see the veterans in their old uniforms. Bo & Brenda Hardesty have done his event for years on their dime.

i had builder that was to build my dream home but all he took was about 10,000.00 of my hard money and no home if can help me you can call me on my cell phone 443 740 5702 i will thank you.
Ms. Miller,
I love the work you do at WBAL. I am impressed by your pieces, which focus on citizen’s protection play by rule approach. I have story to share with you to benefit MD residents. I searched through your archives, but I did find a pointer or answer. I’m wondering, why did you not touch this subject in your piece.
I have a situation, where the worst kinds of deadbeats that frustrate
businesses and government tax agencies. Run up debts in one company, close
it up only to open up a new entity to start all over again.
Once we file suit on one entity, he’ll probably
close it up and start all over. It looks like this measure is practice of steeling legally.
A maryland resident formed a company and created lot of debt and desolved
the entity. He formed another entity/corp in same type of business. He has
lien in old corp and want to transfer assets/goodwill of old corp to new
corp after vacating the lien/judgment of old corp.
I talked to lawyer, he says it is a accepted practice. There is a point, they start a business with intent to deceive residents/businesses and desolve entity to escape from liability. Is it a crack in our judicial system. I approached the Attorney General and Dept of taxation of MD. I did not find any pointer there.
As you are the knowledgeable person in this space, are there any precedence/rulings of such cases in Maryland?
What is the best way for me to get connected? If
you need to get in touch with me, call me at
410-636-0586. Alternatively, let me know your time
window and phone #, so I could call you. I look
forward to talking/working with you for your
success.
Sincerely yours,

Jayne, I’d like to know why Moxley voted against The Planning Board’s recommendations on various zoning issues. Moxley has allowed the commercializing of a beautiful piece of open space/farm near the Patapsco River by zoning it for business, fast food and gas stations. This, with the recommendations of the planning board, DEPRM and many, many other community leaders. He is violating the URDL and the Baltimore County Master Plan. I believe truly that if we delved into his campaign contributors…we’d find many dollars coming (or future deals) with Ribera Development Corporation. What an abuse of power. This man has no humility.
You do outstanding work at WBAL, and I also enjoy watching your reports. As for the auto industry bailout… I’m tired of hearing about bailouts. All American people and homeowners should be getting the bailout dollars! Period. Not businesses or industries; they dug their own graves and made their own beds, so… Do we the avg. citizen get bailed out when we over-extend ourselves or get ourselves in deep holes? Not very often — we have to take our hats in our hands and beg the banks for a loan [i.e., a "bailout" in bank talk!]. And they usually say I’m sorry, etc. Now these industries have the gall to demand?! a handout from the American people, many of whome are trying to stay in their homes?!?!? Look, I’m not going to talk about “fairness” (especially when no one seems to be talking about bailing out the public!); but if “Detroit” want to be bailed out, then they NEED TO GET THEIR ACTS TOGETHER:
1) NO!!! executive bonuses.
2) Sr. Execs./CEOs/etc. LEAD BY EXAMPLE and take a 2-4% pay reduction and turn that money around into their own products
3) Look at Honda/Toyota/Hyundai, etc. and follow these carmakers’ lead —how long does it take for US carmakers to get the HINT?!?
4) Make the American people an offer too good to refuse, like: $1,000 for a car–cash or $2,500–credit ON HYBRID/ GREEN cars only, with a 10-yr/100,000 mile warranty!; then we the consumers get a tax right off of the purchase price as a donation —- REGARDLESS!! OF INCOME BRACKETS
5) If the car industry doesn’t like that, then sit their butts downs and come up with a counter-proposal….to the Amer. people!! They’ve got a product; tell us why we should buy their product; but they better have a substantial warranty for the consumer. Otherwise, good riddens! It’s not like we don’t know there are good cars out there; we don’t have a problem buying imports.
That’s it…those are my thoughts.
Regards,
Pat F.
There is an used car dealer that deserves to be looked into. Once upon a time this man had stores all over Baltimore, now through continous law suits over the years he is down to one or two. His practices are ruthless he sells cars that have been under water, they have faulty wiring and if you look at the cases against him you will be amazed. They call him Jerry and his store is called One Stop Auto on Greenmount Ave. I am surprised noone has had him investigated.
I don’t know if this is the right place to send this news. On the evening of Monday, January12th at 8:42pm. Me and my girlfriend were at the Giant on Wilkens Avenue. We purchased some Pear juice for my 6month old daughter Kendrah. On the following day Tuesday, January13th at around 2:00pm my girlfriend was feeding our daughter the bottle of Pear juice we purchased from Giant. While she was feeding Kendrah she noticed the expiration date on the bottle. The expiration date read 07JLY05. From reading the other bottle of juice we had reading 28JAN10. So this means the bottle my daughter was being fed was from July of 2005. We just purchased this on the 12th of this month. We called our family Dr. and they told us to get a hold of poison control or better yet just call Gerber direct. So my girlfriend called them direct and the person from Gerber was very very mad at this situation. I am writing you to let you know that this is on the shelves of our grocery stores. Better yet it is children food that is on these shelves. I am very very mad at this situation. We are keeping a very close eye on our daughter, which we were told to do. As of this moment at 9:00 pm on Tuesday she is doing ok for the most part. She has spit up but I don’t know if her drinking the juice has any parts of this. Gerber has said they were going to handle the situation by investigating how this got left on the shelf. They also offer us some coupons and other things for what happened. I don’t know how far I should actually take this. The way I feel I would like to seek legal action. Yes my daughter drank some of the juice. What do you think.
Ms. Miller,
I have a mental disorder and was kicked out of a residential treatment facility. The facility lost it’s Joint Commission accreditation. I truly believe this facility warrants an investigation…how may I send information to you, my email is justjaye5@hotmail.com…PLEASE HELP!
Ms. Miller,
I have an interesting story in reference to ….BGE….
I called the company last wek in reference to my very very very very high electric bill. I live in a 900 sq ft home and my bill was over $350.00 again.
I asked the young ladie on the phone if BGE reads my meter or if it is an estamate. She assured me it was read every month. as a mater of fact she told me the date the company would be out at my home…
I am a sales rep for a petroleum company and work out of my home alot. I told her I will be home to watch how he reads my meter. she said that would be great…. i just recieved a letter in the mail saying there meter reader was unsble to read my meter March 5th and in order for me to receive an accurate bill I was to read the meter myself….CRAZY I have no fence no dog no reason for them not to read my meter. I JUST WONDER HOW LONG THEY HAVE BEEN ESTAMATING THE COST OF MY BILL?????
Hi Jayne,
On 1-30-09 my daughter was traveling on 695 towards Loch Raven Blvd in Towson. A bus from AS Midway drop a large piece of ice on my daughters car. The ice came through her windshield. Another car was also hit by the ice and went after the bus. He stopped the bus and got a number of their insurance co. I called Lancer Insurance from Ohio and explained the situation and said my insurance will cover the car but it won’t cover the rental car we needed to get so my daughter could go to school and work. The man Ed Planisek said that’s my problem and he won’t cover the cost.
The cost of the rental was $400.00 for a week so my daughters car could be repaired. I am a single mom and I need my $400.00 back. Is there anything you can do to help me? I am sure this has happened to alot of people. The bus company had plenty of time to clean that ice off since the storm was 2 days before this happened.
Home Depot Scam??? We purchased an item for $399.- today at The Home Depot in Golden Ring, MD. We had purchased an item for the exact same amount from Lowes in White Marsh, MD and noticed that the sales tax was lower at Lowes. We brought out the calculator & realized the HD tax was .10 more than the 6% it was supposed to be. We called the store, and the customer service person said she had no idea what happened, that the registers were set by the home office. We expressed concern that customers were getting ‘Nickled & Dimed’. She sent us to a manager. The manager also confirmed that we were charged more than 6%, but again said that headquarters set the registers & she had no control. We said that we spend thousands of dollars at HD annually, and if this is a typical practice of HD, then we’ve paid quite a bit more than we should have. The manager said that she would give us 5% off our next purchase, without acknowledging that she would contact the home office.
We went back over receipts from several different Home Depots that we’ve shopped at, and we were charged more than 6% on many of the purchases. Most of the discrepencies have taken place at the “contractors register’.
We want assurance that this issue will be addressed. We have no idea how long it’s been going on, but it seems like a great way for HD to be making extra $$ from unsuspecting customers. 5-10 cents on each transaction for thousands of customers all over the country, would add up to quite a bit of change!
We just filed a complaint w/ the BBB in GA, where the headquarters are. We just want customers to check their receipts & see if this has happened to more people.
Thanks for all your hard work & dedication.
Hi Jayne. My Jan. BGE bill was $650.07. Almost $200 more than any previous bill. I noticed that they estimated my bill. The previous month was my highest ever at $481.80. If they overestimated everyone in Maryland by such an amount in January didn’t they give themselves an incredible loan for one month on the consumer’s backs? I don’t know how to check that out but I’m sure that you and your team do. Please check into this if you can. Thanks for all the great work you guys do.
The most recent pick of the Obama Administration also has back tax issues it was reported this morning, as have many of their previous selections. Given that Congress approved the current Treasury Secretary before all the others came to light, I’m now beginning to wonder just how many members of Congress also have ‘tax skeletons’ in their closets.
In my opinion and give the current economic climate, I think the American people have a right to see the publication of the list of members of Congress owing back taxes and those who’ve paid up their back taxes while serving in the current Congress.
Only someone with your reputation and resources could do justice to such a story, Ms. Miller. Please consider it.
Hi Jayne, I graduated from Penns Valley High School in 1975. I think My father (Robert Sealy) may have had you as a student. I just saw you on the Rachel Maddow show. Dear Jane:
I saw an item, called The Magic Jack, on TV & thought boy
what a great IDEA! So I ordered one. When my wife came
home she told me we only pay approx. $2.90 per mo. cause
we have a promo thru Comcast. So I called them to cancel
this order, but within 20minutes, Magic Jack already
processed, just refuse when it comes. When it came, I told
postman to return & he put refused on package.
Well, since Oct. Magic Jack has put money in & taken $ out of my Credit Card 4 x’s. I was told, by Credit Co., we will change your card, so cut up your card. Well got my new card & within 2hrs. guess who took money out again on new card. Magic Jack. Please help before I find were
they are & all crap breaks loose. My wife waited on the
phone to Magic Jack for over 3hrs. before they answered
And that was in October, when they apologized. I have
sent 3 Magic Jacks(unopened), back. What are my rights,
when a company keeps you in a merry-go-round, like this?
Awaiting a speedy reply, I am,
Sincerely,

Hi Jane,
Please check this one out. I think it is a rip off to get people treapped into their services. I ordered a DVR from my cable provider Direct TV, I was not told that this wourl either “extend” my current contract(which I had fulfilled) or it would “automatically renew” my contract! Now, 6 mos later, I decide I want to go with Verizon and that is when I found out that I was under a 2 yr contract with Driect because I order the DVR! This is entrapment!! I disputed this only to be asked well what offer is Verizon giving you, we can match that if you stay with us!! I chosed not to stay with Direct and now they tell me if I break this “contract” I will have to pay $300 – 400 to get out of it! I hear that this has and is happening to al ot of other Direct TV subscribers, this is not fair!! and I need your help in this matter. i should have been inofrmed of this “contract” thing when I initially orderd the DVR. H E L P!! thank you and keep up the good work, we need people like you who are not afraid to go after the wrong doers and especially those who are takling advantage of the situation that we are in!
Great appearance on Rachel Maddow!
Bally’s Total Fitness in White Marsh continues to have crime/theft issues and they refuse to do anything to make their facility safer for their members.
About 10 years ago, my sister and I were working out and someone broke into the trunk of her car, parked on Bally’s White Marsh lot, and stole both of our purses. It took me hours to cancel credit cards and I worried for a long time about identity theft.
After working out last week, my father’s car keys were stolen. To replace these keys will cost approximately $600. He had a lock on his locker and they broke it off. Another patron on the same day had his credit card stolen and over $5000 was charged to his account. This is a regular occurance there. After speaking with yet another member, he said he locked his wallet in his glove box and his keys were stolen from the locker room. The thief went out to his car, stole all of his credit cards and charged over $8000!!!
The number of thefts taking place at this facility today is astounding. The police told us that they feel like they should “set up shop” there due to the number of calls they receive regularly.
We spoke with supervisor, Charles Redard who feels that Bally’s responsibility ended by posting signs denying any liability for lost or stolen articles. Considering the high rate of crime in their facility, why doesn’t Bally’s Total Fitness feel they should do more to protect their patrons??? We suggested that someone man the locker rooms. While this would not completely eliminate thefts, it would certainly be a detterant! We were told that it was highly unlikely that Bally’s would take that kind of proactive approach.
Parking lot thefts at Bally’s White Marsh also happen regularly and have been taking place there for the last 10 plus years yet Bally’s still refuses to install security cameras on the grounds. In other words, they have your money so what do they care?
If you could investigate this, I am sure there are thousands of Bally’s members who would be most appreciative!!!
Hi Jane,
Someone stole an escrow refund check in the amount of $1797.36 from my mail box and cashed it at a Chevy Chase Bank in Laurel, Maryland in April of 2008. Since then I have been following up with Chevy Chase and WAMU (bank that issued the check) and both parties are giving me the runaround. Although a Chevy Chase representative admits that the check is obviously a forgery it has been almost a year and no one at either bank is following up with me to refund my money. I have done a mail theft report, filed a case with Anne Arundel County Police, and made hundreds of attempts by email, fax, and telephone to both Chevy Chase and Washington Mutual. Each one points the finger at the other and says “someone will follow-up with you” but no one has done so thus far. Chevy Chase officials claim they are making a case for their security team to follow-up on and each time I call and provide my case number they tell me they have a record of no such case. Representatives at the bank won’t even provide me with information so that I may follow-up with their upper management in writing to make them aware of how I have been mistreated by the customer service representatives and been given no assistance with this situation.
The person who stole my check deposited into their minor childs account. Chevy Chase Bank tells me they have everything they need to go after the person (name, address, social security number, drivers license information) but no one is doing anything about it and I’m out almost $2,000 dollars that I desperately need.
Meanwhile, the banks are getting bailed out of their situations and no one is helping me with mine. Is there anything you can do to help?
Thanks!
We have been receiving diet pills in the mail for the past 3 months. Since we did not order them, we threw them away but recently noticed that our Credit Card had been charged 34.00 2x in the past two months. We just received another bottle of pills and traced then back to Lose Weight Systems in Nevada and noticed that there has been
an enormous amount of complaints logged by people who are receiving these pills and billed on their credit cards. We have had to cancel our credit card like these other consumers, but felt you should let people know that they should check their credit cards if receiving these products in the mail.
Dear Miss Miller,
I contacted you in 1998 when my

wrote all kind of junk on my son
police report and draw line on
the police report.the fire chief
gave me the real papers about his
death. no one care about my son
shoved it under the rug. i want to make it

The bailed-out banks are raising their fees on both poor and good customers. PNC, Riverside branch, charged my nephew $272.00 in fees when he over-drew his account by $12.81 which was covered by a deposit two days later. And he had enough in his savings account to totally cover the checking over-draft. PNC Riverside branch manager acknowleged it was exuberant by reducing the fees to $164.00; with a straight face. My nephew earns $10/hour so he must work two days to pay this “reduced” fee. You just can’t let your guard down when dealing with banks, especially those being bailed-out like PNC.
I was deployed in Afghanistan as a contractor, 10/2007 – 03/2008, and in 12/2008 and in 12/2007, 2 juveniles broke into my home, stole items, including my car (torched/totalled). While home on Leave 03/2008, I was told via the Baltimore County States Attorney’s office, I was required to appear and testify (or be arrested) to validate the event. 2 juveniles reached a plea and any restitution agreement was reached except my lost wages due to a forced resignation due to this event.
Over six months ago I filed a claim for reimbursement from the State Treasurer and they forwarded the case to the States Attorney’s Office and that was six weeks ago.
Can you and I travel with a camera crew and speak to the Cabinet Secretary to have that office accountable and respond?
I have all the exact dates and the claim amount is over $100,000. – lost wages, lost bonus, lost tax benefit, totally unfair to me, while deployed representing the US in a world peace mission.
Thanks, W. Scott Boyer, Baltimore, Maryland
Jane,
I need your help. I am tryign to get through to the MSDE Certification Department re:getting recertified. The phone number is either busy or it transfers you around until basically it disconnects. All I am trying to find out is- what classes I need to take to get recertified and I can’t get an answer because I can’t get a person to answer the phone. I have sent in the paperowkr required and the fee involved. Courses are too expensive just to take without knowing if they are the needed courses or not.
Thank You.
Hi Jayne Miller
I need some help real bad. My stepson was arrested for robbery with a pellet gun him and four others. He is 16 years old never been arrested before. Never been in trouble before, an 90 average student. They set this young man bail at 2 Million dollars at first. Then at the bail review the judge changed it to no bail and said she viewed him as a threat. No one was hurt or beaten. The other young men were release to their parents. While he was charged as a adult. About couple days later three detective came to my home.
They told his mother and I that they were here to help him and asked could they look in his room. The reason he gave was to check to see what his home life was like. Then the day of his preliminary one of the same detectives was a witness against him. When I called Internal Affairs a Detective Schneider said that they can do that and it was not illegal. He said that the officer can lie to me so he would not have to get a search warrant.
I know it may sound crazy that I would be writing this letter to you. I really felt used when the detective showed up as a witness as my stepson. The preliminary hearing was rescheduled due to the officer had to assist in serving a warrant. Christopher Robinson is his name
ThankYou.

Jane ,
In a Nutshell ,I bought a used car from this new dealer in Fallston .It started to smoke .But it took me a while to figure out it was only after the car had sat over night and on a cold start so I took it back to the place where I got it .with photos and they found no problem with it .Upon chatting outside with the mechanic he told me he knew what the problem was and if I wanted to pay for my own repairs that would be fine so at that point I got him to give me a list of what the truck needed and a price for the labor .Now the truck is quickly approaching out of warranty .It was also advertised at a much lower price on the Internet that said click here but I didn’t hear from them went in a week later .They told me it was a misprint or typo on the Internet I liked the car so I paid cash for it so needles to say I got a car with a blown head gasket and upon returning to the web site my very car is still on site with another much higher price .They have updated the web site 3 times not taking down the car I bought but raising the price 3 times after I bought it .Its there Grand Opening and I don’t want them to do this to other people . Can you please advise
Any chance you could look into local business having their power cut off because they are running behind on their bills, not even their entire bill now that the cold weather has past, I gather BGE is cutting small business like crazy.
I had hoped that the would fire the executive of the company and use the savings to pay all past due bills.
We all need help in these tough times and none of us need the executives at BGE/Constelaation Energy

Hi Jayne,
I was ALMOST scammed on Craigslist. I posted some crystal candy dishes for sale in the Balto Craigslist and someone from Nigeria contacted me. I contacted PayPal and forwarded the e-mails and it was a scam. The e-mails I received were supposedly from Paypal that money was deposited for the items. The e-mails were so real and official looking. You might want to make your listeners aware. You are fab!
I would appreciate it if an investigation would be done concerning the ruling by Judge Sally C. Chester in the case of Robert H. Gordon, a 16-year veteran of the Baltimore City police force and his wife, Daniella A. Gordon (Case #6C00294377/6C00299851), who were arrested on February 17, 2008 for theft as explained in the 04/30/09 article by Nick Madigan of the Baltimore Sun.
When there is a preponderance of evidence against a defendant and the judge rules in their favor, the can only be one conclusion…the fix was in. There was either some kind of pressure to acquit, bribery could have taken place or because the defendant was a police officer, they were found not guilty. When someone tries to leave a store with more than $1,000 worth of goods without paying for the items, there is absolutely no misunderstanding. A theft had taken place. However, there was no justice thanks to a corrupt judge.
I received a letter from A.N. Williams, Administrative Judge, explaining that Judge Chester rendered a decision based on the evidence presented in court. Pardon me for not buying into that load of manure.

The following might prove fodder for a strong investigative report and could prove very helpful to a whole bunch of unsuspecting consumers.
Who is really getting those Federal tax credits, the customer or the big company when it comes to green economy and energy saving initiatives?
In the HVAC area, for example, how does the price of a qualifying air conditioning system (16 SEER/13 EER) compare with a similar system a year ago? Or how does it compare with the next best non-qualifying system?
Thanks.

Jayne,
I am wondering why no one is covering the story of a very popular Maryland summer sleep-away camp for young people,”Sandy Hill,” who has at least 20 reported cases of the flu inder the “swine flu” category in just 2 weeks? Our daughter is supposed to go away to this camp this weekend…it is still open??? WHY??
Baltimore County Educational System.
I have three children in the Baltimore County schools. While most of my experiences have been good with my eldest two children, both in middle school and high school I have had problem with the administration on my daughters middle school. She was recently diagnosed with ADHD and as a result of her behavior was suspended repeatedly. I understand that through the Free Appropraite Education act that all children (those that do not cause disturbances) are entitled to a education conducive to a learning environment free of distractions, however this is a double edged sword. My daughter as a result of her recent diagnosis now has to repeat the grade level in which she was currently in. This is only due to the fact that she was suspended multiple times for acts that are only contributable to her ADHD. I don’t think that it is fair that my daughter is singled out when undoubtedly has a severe enough case of ADHD that is noted by not only Doctors but Teachers as well. I tried having her screened for special education but they Special Education Team deemed her ADHD not a “learning disability”. So what do I do now? Whach as my child sits in a classroom where teachers do not know how to deal with her? I am at my wits end in dealing with this debate with her school. There are no private schools to which she can go to without first being expelled from her current school. And is expullsion really the solution or are we causing more of a problem?
Hi Jayne…. I haven’t seen anything mentioned and wonder if I just missed it. Now that natural gas rates are down 44%, does BGE plan on reducing their fees or are they going to try to figure out how to keep that in their pockets?

Too bad all these years of journalism have taught you nothing. If he did nothing, and was awarded something that is the pinnacle of prestige, why does he NOT deserve to be knocked around for refusing it. It is the mark of a TRUE leader to turn away things that are not rightfully theirs.
The American public is growing tired of the sham, and the voices will only hopefully grow louder.
Get a brain Jayne.
Good Afternoon,
Hi my name is Larry Austin and I have an eviction for failure to pay rent on October 22, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. and I don’t have anywhere to go. I’m on Dialysis, and deemed disable due to several other conditions. I am receiving SSI benefits and the bulk of my income is being garnished for child support. Due to my financial henderence I was force to pay my rent late on a few occasions. I am currently up to date with my rent and I have a credit of $6.00. I spoke with the manager at the Cherry Hill Homes Housing Project rental office and worked out an arrangement with her. She was aware of my financial needs. I also contacted HABC and their was no one who could offer any other assistance. I desperatly need some help.
Hello Ms. Jane Miller,
I have a story to tell, I’m hoping this interests you. I read somewhere that your ruthless, lol. It is very hard to find people who are willing to stand up for the right thing, to see justice finally. This involves a law enforcement agency here in Maryland. I was subjected to 2 years of harrassment from my Captain begining in 2005 until my trial board hearing in 2008, which lead to me being unjustly terminated, after 14 years. It does’nt take that long to fire someone if there guilty on this job.
The only officer who was ever charged with over 30 departmental charges, the first in the history of this agency. I have tried to follow all the rules in getting my name cleared with the agency, to no avail. Even though there were so many guilty bystanders. My Captain created such a hostile working environment that it gave me high blood pressure, migraines, insomnia. And the powers to be could only reply with “it’s her precinct she can do what she wants whether right or wrong”.
One incident: she ordered one of my peers to issue me a citation based upon a memo given by a detective a month and a half prior. I was subjected to go to court, hire an attorney only to have the judge throw the case out. After all she did to create such a hardship in my life and have me terminated, this same Captain went to the unemployment office to have my unemployment stopped, which isn’t in the job description for a precinct commander.
I have alot of documentation of the wrong doing that was committed, departmentally and non-departmental. The same day I was terminated I filed a complaint with the Maryland State Human Commission, on the first telephone conversation, in 2009 one year after he recieved the case. the investigator expressed he and his supervisor agreed that my Captain had made it personal against me, and he has concluded the investigation without even speaking with me. Where is the justice, it’s a shame that here in this country, in the work place, if you don’t conform or someone does’nt like for whatever the reason your libal to get blackballed. When does it end?
There has been so many injustices comitted at that precinct under her command. Where as supervisors were caught stealing, unjust arrests, officers have been found driving around in their personal vehicles with stolen tags, accused of being a racist, officers that were pedifiles I learned later, were still keeping there job. Guilty of making inappropiate comments, such as one of my supervisors had stated “I was part of the Nigger Group” then laughed during roll call one day about someone was not going to be having a job real soon. That person was me!
I was told to just come to work on time, and don’t open my mouth to anyone, and just maybe she(Captain)might pick on someone else. Which was told to me by Fair Practices and the FOP Attorney. The upper ranks all stick together whether right or wrong. If they want you gone, they will get rid of you.
There have been so many good officers terminated or forced to resign, and the worst ones are allowed to stay. I still say like I said then “the punishment never fits the crime for the African American Officers”! We are scrutinized to the highest degree. The cliche’ goes “we are all in Blue”, like family, that’s only on the street, but inside the walls of the precincts and headquarters we are separeted by the color of our skin.
I hope that after you read this that you aren’t afraid or hesitant like so many others. Even some of the attorey’s I spoke with are afraid to take them on. There people just like everyone else, despite it all, I think there are just to many favors that has been going around, for so long, not fear. I guess your saying why I’m I saying something now? Because, after doing the right thing, and hearing the reply from Maryland State Human Commission, it’s time to seek outside sources. I sent a certified letter to Mayor’s Office, the same one I sent to the State of Maryland Commission as well to seek some assistance and guidance, nothing at this point but, I have faith it will work out in the end. I will get my name cleared and be able to find some employment. Even that I was told if I did’nt resign, I would’nt be able to get a desent job, I guess they were right about that as well. If you can’t help me, I understand and I will continue to search for others to help. I know I’m not the only one that has had to endure this problem in the workforce.
Thank You,
Millie
